Ruby Update and Stuff

Ruby's almost 3 months old now and when I took her in for her shots last week she had gained a pound in the first 3 weeks we've had her - so now her whopping total weight is 2.8 pounds.  Let me tell you, she may be tiny, but she's mighty!  Proportionately, her strength is something.  Those who know Boston Terriers know that they're tough little dogs.

So, she gets me up about 2 times in the night to go out to go potty.  Still too small to hold it all night.  She's actually ready to get up at about 4-4:30.  I take her out of her bed to go potty and then sleep with her on the den couch and get nibbled and wiggled on that last hour of sleep until I finally I get up to feed her.  Then it's potty again, play for awhile and then she wants to go back to sleep.  Of course we're up for the day and grumble at Ruby for getting to go back to sleep!

Here's a current photo of our little land crocodile (bitey, bitey girl) from my super talented photographer sis-in-law.

Having a new "baby" in the house keeps me super busy.  As if that weren't enough, we decided 2 weeks ago to tackle painting our kitchen cabinets and entire kitchen.  The cabinets had never been painted - just had super thick, old polyurethane coating them.  That meant removing all the doors, drawers, sanding, and painting.  We gave ourselves a month to finish the project - believing that taking it in segments, no pressure to finish, etc. would make it more doable.  What we didn't realize was how disruptive it is to have your kitchen dismantled.  That gave us the incentive to get it done!  I'm happy to report that yesterday, the job was done.  Oh my goodness, how completed different...exactly what I envisioned and we're both tickled pink that we did it ourselves.  It's light, bright and clean.  Amazing what some paint, new hardware, and natural bamboo window blinds can do to completely transform a space.  It went from a dark room to one filled with light.
