Turquoise Pot with Fruit

I've been so busy gardening, etc. with the change of season and a desire to be outside that I felt quite rusty back in the studio again!  However, this cute little palm plant inspired me to set up a still life.  I also had the desire to get my oils back out again.  It felt good to be painting again.  This was certainly fun to do and I learned much about handling the medium from this exercise.

My painting is primarily transparent pigments - lots of glowing qualities in those.  I also worked very thin and enjoyed the luscious ability of blending colors together - really scrubbing quite a bit.  The 12" x 9" hard panel made a wonderful support to do so.

Next I'd like to do another architectural piece - perhaps this time in oils for a change.

Pearl Gallery Opening Night - Thursday, April 22, 2010

What better way to see the "new" downtown Tulsa than to start off your evening with a visit to Pearl Gallery!  Join us for the Spring Show which opens next Thursday night, April 22, 2010 from 5-8 p.m.  The show runs through May 20, but you'll want to be among the first to see the wonderful artwork in this show from over 20 area artists.  I'm excited to be showing many from my latest series "Tulsa Brick x Brick" including these shown here.
